Situation:

In the middle of 2005, I started having difficulty walking for a long distance and standing for a long period of time. It began with a swollen knee and turned into pain in my ankle. The pain increased until I couldn’t stand for more than five minutes at a time. It was determined that the leg pain actually came from my back -- I had spondylolisthesis and a degenerative disc.

This made living my life difficult. I couldn’t do some of my favorite activities – tai chi and line dancing. I work for a conservation organization and part of that position is a great deal of walking and hiking. So I couldn’t do my job properly.

Solution:

We first tried conservative treatments like injection procedures, which did help some, but I needed to live my life again. So I decided to opt for surgery – a spinal fusion.

What Makes NJ Spine Different?

I think this team is fantastic. They gave me my life back. Not only were they excellent surgeons, they also spent extra time with me in rehab.

Client Quote:

It’s ten months after the surgery and I can stand without difficulty and play with my grandchildren. I have not asked yet about the tai chi and horse back riding, but hopefully that will come.
