Osteoporotic Compression Fractures

An osteoporotic compression fracture occurs when one of the bones of the spinal column weakens and collapses. Vertabral compression fractures tend to be painful, and if left untreated, can affect overall health and well-being and may cause postural deformity.

 

Treatment

Balloon Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive treatment that can repair compression fractures. A balloon is inserted to restore the vertebral body to its natural shape and height, in most cases immediately alleviating pain.

 

This treatment can make it easier for patients to return to everyday activities like walking, bending, or lifting, with significantly less pain.
