Microsurgery & Minimally Invasive Surgery
njspine-microsurgery

Many spine surgical procedures can be performed through the use of a specialized, high-powered operating microscope. This microsurgery — or minimally invasive surgery — has many advantages. It enables the surgeon to be more precise and accurate. It is more delicate to sensitive tissue, including the spinal nerves and cord. And it generally means better results and shorter recovery periods for the patient.

Microsurgery is frequently used to treat herniated discs and certain cases of spinal stenosis, and is typically performed as an outpatient procedure.

Even certain major procedures can be undertaken utilizing minimally invasive techniques, providing all of the same benefits as stated above. At NJSC, we are specialize in these forms of surgery, and will discuss them with you when they are viable options in your treatment.
