Dr. Steven G. Dorsky founded New Jersey Spine Center in 1987 in order to bring together multiple spine specialties into one comprehensive practice. His vision was to offer patients the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art, tertiary care for back problems in the region.

Dr. Dorsky has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Spine Surgeons in the U.S. by Becker’s Spine Review, an independent national orthopedic and spine organization involved in research and education.  His advances in spine surgery include having been the first surgeon at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ to perform an Artificial Disc Replacement procedure.  In addition, his engineering contributions include developing and patenting a system of spine instrumentation that is widely used throughout the U.S., Europe, and the Far East.

Dr. Dorsky was formerly the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, and served as their Site Director of Orthopedic Residency Training. With an appointment to Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, he has helped prepare the next generation of doctors in quality spinal care treatment.

At New Jersey Spine Center, Dr. Dorsky specializes in micro and minimally invasive surgery, including the treatment of complex spine problems, failed back surgeries, fractures, tumors, and scoliosis in both children and adults. His training and expertise enable him to use techniques which minimize blood loss, allowing many of his complex surgical procedures to be done without requiring blood transfusions. He is also able to perform many spinal procedures on an outpatient basis.

Dr. Dorsky is fellowship trained and board certified in spine surgery, a fellow of the North American Spine Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Dorsky received his medical degree from Brown University Medical School. Following an internship in General Surgery from Montefiore Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he completed his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute in New York, NY.
